Entrevista a Carolina Pidal: el poder del biointeriorismo y el arte para transformar espacios saludables.

About you and your career

How did you get into interior design? Was there a moment or experience that particularly marked you?

I've always felt a deep connection to spaces and how they affect us emotionally, physically, and energetically . But it wasn't until I began to observe how environments could influence people's health and well-being that I knew I wanted to do more than just "decorate ."
A health scare marked the direction I would follow. The need to create places that not only looked good, but also " did us good ," marked the beginning of my journey. The turning point was my ecological awareness: I couldn't continue designing without considering the impact it had on people and the planet.
What led you to specialize in biointerior design, and what does this form of space design mean to you?
For me, BioInterior Design is a way of life. It's the result of combining my two greatest passions: interior design and respect for the environment. But it goes far beyond aesthetics or sustainability; we're talking about health, functionality, positive impact , and connection with nature.
It means designing spaces that care for people on all levels (physical, emotional, sensorial, and energetic), that respect their environment, and foster a conscious lifestyle . It means creating habitats that heal us and, at the same time, heal the world.

How would you define your personal style when it comes to decorating?
My style could be defined as natural, functional, and sensorial , with a warm and honest aesthetic. I enjoy working with fine, local materials, prioritizing the essence of the space and its inhabitants.
I strive for each place to exude harmony , with a beauty born from authenticity that is felt more than seen. I am guided by the principles of bioclimatic, neuroarchitectural, and geobiological approaches, adapting them to each specific case.

Spaces with soul

What elements do you consider essential in a healthy and harmonious space?
Environmental health is the foundation: good air quality, adequate natural lighting, acoustic and thermal comfort, and toxic-free materials.
Also key is connection with nature (biophilia), the adaptability of the space to the real needs of its inhabitants (inclusion and universal accessibility, beyond mobility), and the energetic balance of the environment , which we work on through geobiology. A harmonious space is one that welcomes, regulates, and accompanies us.
What materials, colors, or textures do you usually prioritize in your projects and why?
I choose natural , local, recyclable, and low-environmental-impact materials : untreated or oiled wood, clays, mineral paints, organic textiles... Anything that exudes authenticity and health.
As for colors, I lean towards palettes Inspired by nature : earth tones, greens, sands... combined with warm, enveloping textures that stimulate touch and generate well-being. Everything is designed to activate the senses and promote calm , using neuroarchitectural approaches, that is, studying the people who will live in these spaces.

Is there a project you look back on fondly or that best represents your approach?
Yes, I especially remember a renovated home for a family with a member with high electromagnetic and sensory sensitivity. The challenge was to create a space free of electromagnetic fields, with good electrical installation, good ventilation, biocompatible materials, and a layout designed to minimize environmental stress. We can apply criteria such as cognitive accessibility, circadian lighting, and connection with the natural environment. It was a deeply human and transformative project for everyone.

Art and decoration

What role does art play in your interior design projects?
Art plays an essential role: it is part of the soul of a space. It not only beautifies, but also communicates, excites, and creates identity . In BioInterior Design, we strive for art to be more than just beautiful; it is art that transmits , that calms, that brings joy, that has purpose.

Do you think decorative pieces like pictures or paintings can transform a room? What details do you usually focus on when choosing them?
Absolutely. A well-chosen piece can change the visual rhythm of a space , provide a focal point, or even alter the mood. I focus on the balance between the work and the space: colors, shapes, textures, but also its emotional charge .
What advice would you give to someone who wants to introduce art into their home in a balanced way?
Choose pieces that move you, that connect with your personality, or with what you want to feel in that space. It's not about filling the walls, but rather creating a dialogue between art and interior architecture .
Good lighting and a neutral environment help each piece breathe. It's also important to take care with the materials used to create the surface and avoid synthetic paints or toxic varnishes in highly sensitive spaces.

To close

What inspires you in your daily life? Is there a particular book, artist, or space that inspires you?
I'm inspired by people who work with passion and consistency. I'm also inspired by nature , which is the great teacher of intelligent and sustainable design. As for books, I like to read "The Healthy House" by Mariano Bueno , "Living Without Toxics" by Elisabet Silvestre , and I draw inspiration from neuroarchitectural influences like Ana Mombiedro , or neuroscience books like those by Dr. Nazaret Castellanos . Every project, every client, is also a source of inspiration.
Where can we follow your work and see your projects?
You can find me at www.carolinapidal.com , on my Instagram account @carolinapidal , and also on LinkedIn as Carolina Pidal . I share content about habitat health , real-life projects, sustainable materials, and lots of inspiration for those who want to live consciously.

Anything else you'd like to share with the Goyart community?
I just want to thank you for the space and encourage the entire community to look at spaces with a fresh perspective: one of health, inclusion, natural beauty, and respect for our surroundings. Because design with soul has the power to transform lives.

Thank you, Carolina
At Goyart, we would like to sincerely thank Carolina Pidal for sharing her profound and thoughtful approach to interior design with us . We feel fortunate to have trusted our pieces to be part of her projects , where every detail is designed to heal, inspire, and transform.

Their understanding of design—as an act of care, of connection with nature, and of respect for those who inhabit the spaces—reminds us why we do what we do : creating art that moves , connects, and gives meaning.

As she herself says, "design with soul has the power to transform lives ," and we are happy to accompany her on that journey.
